Rated: The Remedy with Bleeding Heart Narrative, St. Spirit and Thank Pablo

A few weeks ago I went to a regular event in my calendar called 'The Remedy', at the Tramshed, in Tooting. I've been a big fan of the Remedy since I first discovered it almost a year ago, after listening to too much late-night radio, and since then I've been a semi-regular.

My Name is... Joel

I've recently been watching quite a bit of My Name is Earl, as it's been on TV at around the time I usually eat dinner. For those among my readership who are not aware of what this show is about, it's basically all about this one guy, Earl, a petty criminal who lives in a trailer, who after winning the lottery and getting hit by a car all within one minute of each other, decides to turn his life around and make up to all the people he's wronged over the years.

The North of the South

I have been carefully rooting through my photos over the last few weeks to find the best ones. I now present you, my faithful readership, with the following:

The North of the South: The first set of photos of one man's journey through Central and South America. All photos taken in Panama, Colombia and Ecuador (hence the 'north' bit).

Photos from Around the World

I know I may a bit late into the game, but I recently got round to joining Flickr, the photo-sharing site. This is my first photoset, a collection of photos from around the world, from Germany to Guatemala, taken between 2007 and 2009. These photos have actually been on Flickr for over a month now, but after discovering that there's a plugin for my website, I just couldn't resist adding it, as a way to make it appear that I've been adding content, if nothing else.

So, without further ado, I present...

Nine Hours in Nicaragua

Last Wednesday, I left my current home in San José, Costa Rica, to head to the Latin Link Central America regional conference in Mixco, part of Guatemala City. After a total flight time of about an hour, we landed in Guatemala City without incident. Despite a bit of trouble finding the place (the conference centre was in the middle of a warehouse district!), the whole thing generally went well. I enjoyed seeing my friends (and making new ones), and it was really cool and encouraging to find out what the whole team are actually doing with themselves, as I hadn't really known before. We also had some 'business', which was rather boring, especially as it was all in Spanish, but I think it was probably necessary, so never mind! So, what am I writing about, I hear you asking! The return journey, back to San José. We left the conference centre at half past four in the morning, and I didn't get back home until six in the evening. So what happened? What made a short, five hundred mile journey, that should have taken less than two hours, take twelve? I can summarise in one word: Nicaragua.

Video Diary II: Lava on Mount Pacaya

Sorry this has taken such a long time to come up - I took these videos almost a month ago now, but here they are...

First day of Language School and Other Stories

Hi loyal fans! Sorry I haven't been writing too much here - I didn't want to bore everyone with all the mundane details of my life (and the last week has been pretty mundane - I've basically been at home all day doing not very much), but here's the compressed version anyway:
